How do we define leadership?
There are many answers to that age old question: some say that leaders
are those that tend to "Lead" the group in most activities, whether
in authority or not. Some have great
influence; and some have great skill.
But I believe that true leaders are not simply any of those qualities,
but a leader is a one who more sets a good example by showing the true good
qualities of leadership.
"Leaders are
movers and shakers, original, inventive, unpredictable, imaginative, full of
surprises that discomfort the enemy in war and the main office in peace.
"For managers
are safe, conservative, predictable, conforming organization men and team
players, dedicated to the establishment." (Leaders and Managers; HughNibley. August 19th, 1983, BYU)
That's what
leaders are! People who will do what's
right and what needs to be done. Jesus
Christ set the example for us on how to be:
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the away, the truth, and the
life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
" 'If you love
me,' said the Greatest of all leaders, 'you will keep my commandments,' 'If you know what is good for me,' says the
manager, 'you will keep my commandments and not make waves.' " (Ibid, HughNibley)
