Remember 9/11

History has many famous examples of tragedy which sparks a revolution of mind and thought.  There are several examples in American history which are very clear in our memory.
The Battle of the Alamo, in Texas, is one such; all the soldiers in the fort would rather die than surrender to Santa Anna.  Shortly thereafter, "Remember the Alamo!" was the battle cry issued by the avenging troops, to tell the Mexicans that their brethren were not forgotten to them, and the sacrifice they made.

In the last century on December 7, 1941 at Pearl Harbor the Japanese opened the bomb bay doors and shattered the fleet in the bay there.  But that didn't stop the patriotic spirit, it only kindled it into a raging fire.  "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant and fill him with a terrible resolve."-Isoroku Yamamoto.
It has been said that the troops fighting in the Pacific made a modification of the old Alamo battle cry more fitting for the new times.  Before they would lay down fire or throw a grenade they would yell, "Remember Pearl Harbor!" to sound it in the ears of the Japanese that the Americans had not forgotten.

Now we come to a more recent and more compelling part of history, one that happened ten years ago, not to soldiers but to civilians.  9/11 or September 11th, 2001.  The day that American watched in horror as two of its largest towers tumble into the dust and over 3,000 individuals lost their lives.  Words cannot describe the feeling that swept the nation.
In response to this act the special forces of the U.S. Military were called out for an immediate strike back.  In Afghanistan they flew in by night, destroyed a principal enemy area, and left without a trace.  Except two or three photographs of the twin towers tumbling and on fire, to remind those our enemies of our remembrance and determination.

Let us not forget 9/11!
